3年前,和杜勇有着相同的舞蹈激情的女孩远走他乡,独留杜勇一人为二人共同的梦想奋斗。
THE girl who shared Du Yong's passion for dance left three years ago, leaving him fighting alone for their dream.
如今,梦想成为了现实。26岁的杜勇已经成了武汉一个舞蹈俱乐部的董事长,共拥有6家俱乐部。
Now it has come true, and 26-year-old Du is the head of an Wuhan company that has six clubs.
杜透露:“2008年,我们的收入达到了420万元人民币。”
"Our 2008 income hit 4.2 million yuan," said Du.
这一切的起点就在2005年夏天,那时的杜勇正面临人生道路上的抉择。
This all goes back to the summer of 2005, Du's time to make life choices.
那时,他决定放弃一家IT公司的职位,倾听自己内心深处的声音:他从妹妹那里借了1500元,带着共计2000元开启了他的舞蹈俱乐部梦想。
He decided to give up an IT company offer and listened to his inner voice: He took just 2,000 yuan, 1,500 of it a loan from his younger sister, and started on his dance club idea.
首先,他作了市场调查,调查显示,武汉地区仅有约6家小的舞蹈俱乐部。于是,在7月份他开了自己的第一家俱乐部。
First he did market research, which showed that Wuhan had no more than six small dance clubs, so he opened his first in July.
他在Quanye Bazaar商务中心租了一间80平米大的房子,那里地处闹市区,离办公场所和学院也很近。
He rented an 80-square meter space in the Quanye Bazaar, a business center with convenient access and office buildings and colleges nearby.
当时,他共雇用两名员工来发传单、贴海报,工作8小时一轮班,30元。而杜勇则是那里的拉丁舞老师。
He hired two people, paying them 30 yuan for an 8-hour shift to pass out leaflets and put up posters. Du was the Latin dance instructor.
然而,第一个月下来只有寥寥10人报名上课。这确实打击了他的热情。
But he got a real damper on his enthusiasm in the first month, when no more than 10 people enrolled in his class.
面对入不敷出的局面,他开始仔细研究形势。
Failing to make ends meet, he studied the situation.
研究后他发现,白领和大学生都是潜在顾客。于是乎,他便在对外宣传方面把这两部分群体定为目标。
He saw that white-collar workers and university students were potential customers, so he targeted these two groups with his publicity.
此外,他还开始教授一些新舞蹈,例如Solid 和 Salsa,希望借此来满足人们赶时髦的需求。
Also, he introduced some new dances like Solid and Salsa to meet fashion-conscious demands.
不久后,在2007年的7月和9月,杜勇在对该市另外两个地区进行调查后又开了两个俱乐部分店。
Then, in July and September of 2007, Du opened two branch clubs after exploring the market in two of the city’s other districts.
2007年12月,他正式注册了自己的公司。
In December of that year, he registered his company.
杜和他的员工利用一切机会从媒体报道中获益。
Du and his team take every chance to benefit from media coverage.

终于,在2008年底,杜的公司成功转为特许经营品牌,并于2009年1月在武汉新开了3家连锁店。
In the end of 2008, Du turned his business into a profitable franchise brand, and three "clones" were set up in Wuhan in January 2009.

Du's suggestions
1. 首先要清楚地认识到顾客的不同需求,然后策划专门的方法来满足他们。
1. Identify the different needs of your customers and find specific ways to meet them.
2. 其次,要学会利用媒体炒作。收集你和员工们有新闻价值的信息,交给当地的媒体报道。
2. Learn to make use of media hype. Get some newsworthy information about yourself or your staff, and hand it to the local media.
3. 要富有创造力。新的市场策略,例如主题推广和团体购买项目都能够有效提升利润。
3. Be creative. New marketing strategies like theme promotions and group purchase programs can be used to increase profits.
